A global response for collective action and support that ensures that forced displacement and migration challenges are addressed.
The IGAD Regional Secretariat has identified four intervention areas around which its core business will be organized and resources applied.
The IGAD Secretariat is current providing technical support and coordinating the implementation of development investments in refugee hosting areas in Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya and Uganda. In Somalia, IGAD RS aims to enhance the capacity of the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and that of regional and local governments to take a lead role in planning and coordination of displacement‐responsive area-based multisectoral development in places of return and reintegration.
Regional Secretariat delivers its programmes in close collaboration with the UNHCR Regional Hub based in Nairobi, the IOM Regional Office for East and Horn of Africa, Regional Durable Solutions (ReDSS), Mixed Migration Centre and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
