Our Partners

The Regional Secretariat maintains linkages with various stakeholders and initiatives in the region such as UN organizations including UNHCR, IOM, UNDP, UNSOM, other organisations involved in transitional solutions and mixed migration including the Regional Durable Solutions Secretariat (ReDDS), the Regional Mixed Migration Secretariat (RMMS), Solutions Alliance Secretariat (SAS), Private Sector Institutions including  innovation hubs, Telecommunications, Banking and the Great lakes initiative through the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR).

Specifically, the Regional Secretariat delivers its programmes in close collaboration with the UNHCR Regional Hub based in Nairobi, the IOM Regional Office for East and Horn of Africa, the Regional offices of the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) in which the ReDSS and the RMMS are hosted. The World Bank’s Fragility, Conflict and Violence (FCV) regional hub is especially crucial with its expertise in development in fragile states.

In addition regional mechanisms that address displacement and mixed migration including, Solutions Alliance Somalia (SAS) as well as the Horn of Africa Initiative are close partners. National initiatives like the Transitional Solutions Initiative, the UNHCR/IKEA livelihoods program in Ethiopia, the Refugee and Host Population Empowerment (ReHoPE) program in Uganda and are essential in generating knowledge.  The World Bank Office in Nairobi is key as it will supports the Regional Secretariat and project countries in delivering the DRDIP.
